Talala D.IR.T. started up in June 2006. It came about on a long search for answers for my own horse who had been suffering since 2000. While searching for answers I learned about thermography and couldn’t find anyone close to me that had this equipment and training. The more that I learned about thermography the more I thought that it could help a lot of horses and their owners in northeast Oklahoma. So the journey began with a lot of research about the cameras and the training. After having representatives show me cameras ranging from basic ($5,000 - $6,000) with little to no options or features to high end cameras ($50,000 - $60,000) with features that would be more toward industrial/mechanical uses, I chose a mid range camera that had many of the features that the high end cameras had but without the bells and whistles that I didn't need. My goal was to avoid equipment that would be out dated as quickly as some of the other new technologies. I wanted to make sure that I purchased equipment that would give reliable and useful results that will help me keep my animals as healthy as possible and provide other owners the opportunity to provide the same for their animals. Then came all of the training - I started with a course in New Jersey on general thermography that covered just about everything but animals. Then on to Roswell, New Mexico for a course on Veterinary Thermography and then to San Luis Obispo, California for a more in depth Veterinary Course. I then went back to New Jersey to get a Level I certification. I plan to always continue my education by attending courses and seminars both for veterinary and residential applications.
